For immediate release
TORONTO (November 13th, 2024) Today, Anthem Entertainment, one of the world’s leading music companies, has acquired a wide selection of songs from the catalog of multi-platinum and world-renowned performer and writer, Darell. With this exciting move, Anthem continues to bolster its presence in the Latin Music space.
Among the songs acquired from Darrell’s catalog is “Te Boté (REMIX),” the 10x Diamond global smash with heavyweight artists Nio Garcia, Casper Magico, Bad Bunny, Ozuna and Nicky Jam. The groundbreaking hit became a massive charting success, reaching #1 on the Billboard U.S. Hot Latin Songs Chart and #2 on the U.S. Latin Airplay Chart, and has to date generated an impressive 2.4 billion streams on YouTube and 1.2 billion streams on Spotify.
Additional catalog highlights include “Otro Trago” by Sech and Darell, which went #1 in nine countries including the U.S., Mexico, and Spain; and “Asesina” by Brytiago and Darell, a 12x Platinum hit in the U.S., whose remix version with Daddy Yankee, Ozuna and Annuel AA, reached 4x Platinum in the U.S. alone. Other songs in the acquired catalog feature artists such as El Alfa, Rauw Alejandro, J Balvin, Myke Towers, Jennifer Lopez, Wisin & Yandel, and more.
Industry veteran Victor Mijares, who has helped lead the charge in multiple catalog acquisitions for Anthem including Darell’s, has been appointed as the company’s first VP of Latin Music and will oversee all future Latin signings. Mijares, who previously held positions at Warner, Sony and BMG, will work closely with Anthem’s Acquisitions team to source and evaluate investment opportunities in the Latin market. Anthem’s publishing catalog already includes a wide array of major hits by Latin heavyweights such as Pitbull, Karol G, Marc Anthony, Feid, Luis Fonsi, Maria Becerra, Tainy, Juanes, Farruko, Romeo Santos, Camilo, Tokischa, Annuel AA and Ricky Martin.
“I am honored and thrilled to have joined Jason Klein’s outstanding team and to contribute to Anthem’s Entertainment’s continuing success,” stated Mijares. “I believe that the potential to grow our business in the Latin sector is open-ended. We have the passion, commitment, and resources to shape exciting opportunities for our partners. The acquisition of a large portion of Darell’s catalog is a very important step for us as a company as well as for the Canadian music industry. We are delighted to add Darell’s masterful works to our growing repertoire.”
“We are excited to welcome Victor as Anthem’s first-ever Vice President of Latin Music,” added Anthem CEO Jason Klein. “With his deep expertise in Latin music and culture, alongside his extensive industry experience, Victor will play a crucial role as we expand our presence in this vibrant and rapidly growing market. Under Victor’s leadership, Anthem’s acquisition of this extraordinary catalog of songs from Darell is a significant step in our strategy to invest in exceptional Latin music, further diversifying and enriching our already impressive catalog of songs.”
